Last month a group calling themselves No Borders Camp were attacked by the Border Patrol as they were holding a closing rally in Calexico, California. Juan Estaban Ruiz was among three people arrested during the unprovoked attack. You can sign a petition asking the US Attorney in San Diego to drop charges against Juan.
The fight for the right to migrate has to be fought on three levels:
First at the very personal level of helping individuals who are affected by current illegal policies and laws. An example of this is CHIRLA's Know your Rights DVD now available for viewing on YouTube .
Second by advocating for change to these laws and policies. This can be through peaceful, diplomatic attempts to pass legislation like CER and the Dream Act or through protest and actions like No Borders Camp fighting the construction of the "Wall of Death" along the border in Calexico, California.
Third by making arguments at the emotional level to the vast majority of Americans who have not made up their mind about immigration. The documentary Beyond Borders, which was partly funded by Radical Immigration, is an example of the struggle to help peoples make up their minds.
That responsible people will be able to live where they choose in the world will become true in the next twenty years . As a result the world will become a better and fairer place. It the meanwhile the the fight for fairness must be fought at very level. And we must never give up.
